The Technical Committee of the AACEM is involved is a number of continuing and “Project” activities. This is a list of the recent and current activities that the AACEM Technical Committee is involved in:
• Creation of a Safety Standard for Robotic commercial cleaning equipment
Working with IEC SC61J on development of IEC 60335-2-117
This project is actively underway within IEC TC61 MT1, in which AACEM participates
• Harmonization of the USA, Canadian, and IEC standard covering Floor Polishers / Burnishers
Working with THC 335K on UL/CSA 60335-2-67
This harmonized document is currently being prepared for publication at UL and CSA
• Harmonization of the USA, Canadian, and IEC standard covering Carpet Extractors
Working with THC 335K on UL/CSA 60335-2-68
This harmonized document is currently being prepared for publication at UL and CSA
• Harmonization of the USA, Canadian, and IEC standard covering Vacuum Cleaners
Working with THC 335K on UL/CSA 60335-2-69
This harmonized document is currently being prepared for ballot within UL and CSA
• Harmonization of the USA, Canadian, and IEC standard covering Floor Scrubbers
Working with THC 335K on UL/CSA 60335-2-72

• Harmonization of the USA, Canadian, and IEC standard covering Pressure Washers
Working with THC 335H on UL/CSA 60335-2-79
The activities are ongoing to create this standard, with meetings scheduled regularly
• Development of an AACEM Guideline document for the application of various national and International Safety, Performance, and EMC standards
The activities related to this project are ongoing, with revisions being developed to improve the existing document.
• Development of a Performance Measurement standards for Propane Burnishing machines
The activities related to this project are ongoing, with members trial running measurement procedures on both Propane and electric machines.
• Revision to IEC 60335-2-72 concerning the use of chassis ground for electrical circuits
A proposal is being prepared for presentation at the next meeting of IEC 61J MT1
• Revision to IEC 60335-02-79 concerning the burst pressure test for cold water pressure washer hose
A proposal to IEC was rejected and a national deviation will be discussed at the next meeting of THC 335H in October.
• Development of an AACEM Guideline document for the application of various battery standards
The activities related to this proposed future project are only being formulated at this time
• Investigation of the safety risks related to the use of “off-aisle tools” used with cleaning equipment
