AACEM Technical Committee members are involved with the creation and maintenance of international product safety standards. The international safety standards are published by the IEC. Each member nation of the IEC has a National Committee. In the USA, this National Committee, working under the authorization of ANSI, participates on the relevant IEC committees and has the official USA vote on the IEC Committees.
The relevant IEC Committee for commercial cleaning equipment is IEC Sub-Committee 61J, or SC61J. SC61J has responsibility for the standards listed below.
The AACEM is the ANSI appointed sponsor for the USA National Committee responsible for all these standards, with the exception of IEC 60335-2-79. (The appointed sponsor for this standard is CETA, the industry association of pressure washer manufacturers).
To fulfill this role, AACEM Technical Committee members are also members of the US National Committee of SC61J, or the US Technical Advisory Group (SC61J USTAG). As such, these members are also ANSI members. The AACEM pays the ANSI membership dues for AACEM technical Committee members.
